White evangelicals are not discriminated against in the way racial minorities are. They are not followed around the department store because it is assumed they will steal. Their resumes are not thrown in the trash for having a funny name.

In fact, what they consider discrimination is them not being allowed to dictate how others live. They want to ban abortion. Nobody is forcing them to have one! They want to persecute gays. Sorry! We believe in equal rights in America. There are other places in the world that welcome religious law. Maybe try one of them.

Yet, in America, if you want to believe being gay is a sin, you can do that. So how are they discriminated against?

    • bcmugger

“White evangelicals are not discriminated against in the way racial minorities are.”

You are right, christians are treated worse.

“They are not followed around the department store because it is assumed they will steal.”

Who`s fault is it that they are watched? What causes it?

“Their resumes are not thrown in the trash for having a funny name.”

Wouldnt it be best to not make a name nearly unpronouncable? Who`s fault is that?

      • Wynstone

        What causes it? Racism.

Christians are treated worse? Are they dragged behind trucks or on death row for a crime they didn’t commit? No, they had to make a cake for a gay couple. The horror.

        • subjectofgov

Don’t know about being dragged behind trucks, but being in prison for crimes that they didn’t commit isn’t only happening to minorities. Check out your facts.

          • Wynstone

But is it happening to evangelical Christians in some disproportionate way? Don’t get off the point. Anyway, the faces of those exonerated by DNA are almost always black.

      • embo66

“Wouldnt it be best to not make a name nearly unpronouncable?”

So it goes when you are the one nation on the planet whose own Statue of Liberty motto has long been :

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

Common last names in America have gone from Smyth (English) to Schmidt (German) to Murphy (Irish) to Rossi (Italian) to Kevorkian (Armenian) to Bukowski (Polish), to cite just a few — and I’m not even past immigration from the 1920s yet!

Does it really matter that nowadays the newer common surnames are Santiago (Spanish) or Ali (Arabic) or Nguyen (Vietnamese) or Singh (Indian)? And has it ever occurred to you that someone’s name might only be unpronounceable to YOU — or that your own name might be unpronounceable to THEM?

(And wouldn’t it be advisable for you to note the red squiggles under your comments, indicating that you have misspelled some words?)

        • subjectofgov

If you check further you will find that during the times you spoke of the practice was to change some of the names of immigrants to be easier for the masses to understand here. What he’s proposing isn’t new.

          • embo66

And if YOU check further, you will find that all the names I chose to feature are extremely COMMON surnames in the U.S. Just because he is challenged doesn’t mean the rest of us are.

  • BMarie

Christians are definitely discriminated against in this country. The constitution says Freedom of Religion, not Freedom from Religion. So why are people fined for praying in public, why are kids suspended from school for saying “bless you” when someone sneezes, why are ball-players fined for kneeling in prayer, why is a coach suspended for holding a team prayer? We are getting stupider and stupider and this is probably part of the reason why morality seems to be lost in this country and we have so many druggies and criminals. Anything goes. And those on the left who condemn all this are just as biased as they say the other side is, as anyone who doesn’t agree with their viewpoint is labeled racist, homophobic, accused of using hate speech, or any other name they can come up with. They only believe in freedom of speech when you are agreeing with them. As for abortion, I’ve never understood why liberals worry so much about killing off the spotted tree frog or some such thing and then think anyone should be able to kill a baby, anytime, anywhere, with no restrictions ever, even on late-term abortions. If you want to have an abortion, let’s restrict it to the first trimester. If you can’t make your mind up by then, have the kid and give it up for adoption. But they never want to compromise on their so-called rights – but everyone else is prejudiced if you don’t agree with them.

    • Wynstone

Instead of asking “why”, you should just read the Supreme Court opinions on the subject. You are free to believe whatever you want, but you cannot inflict those beliefs on others or act in a way to infringe on someone’s beliefs that are different from yours.

    • people are fined for praying in public?

how shocking! tell me where and I will join the protest.

suspended for sneezes. that sounds crazy!

you believe some kooky stuff, and never once did you mention any real form of discrimination, just hurt fee-fees and projection.

    • Lumpenproletariat

“Christians are definitely discriminated against in this country.”

Let’s have a little reality check, shall we?

You can pray when, where, and however you want. You can go to any church you want, and there are roughly three hundred thousand of them divided among a couple hundred different denominations you can choose from. Andif you don’t like any of those, you can start your own! You can build any Christian school, university, or seminary you want – practically anywhere!

You can go to any bookstore and by any number and variety of bibles. You can stand on any street corner and on the steps of the state house and preach whatever you want about your god. You can even go to funerals with signs that says “god hates f**s” if you feel moved to do so. All of these rights and freedoms are guaranteed to you by the Constitution.

You have the only federally recognized holiday. You have had not one,not ten, but 43 consecutive presidents that have shared your faith.

No one is threatening to take away the tax exempt status of any churches that encourage their congregations to vote against gay marriage- although this is clearly in violation of having tax-exempt status. Yipee!

In contrast, Muslims have to deal with the constant worry that they’re being spied on by the US government with the only justification being that they’re Muslim. That their places of worship as “bugged” in order to catch scarrrrry extremists.

In contrast, there are NO atheists in congress at the present time (since Peter Stark was beaten out of his California seat, I believe, it may have changed now). Atheists are, in fact, barred from holding public
office in 7 states. George H.W. Bush has publicly said that atheists are not “real” Americans.

What you do not, however, have the right to do, is to impose your religious beliefs through secular law. Your religious freedom is not restricted because the same Constitution that provides YOUR freedoms to you equally protects people you don’t like. The Constitution doesn’t endorse your religion, or any religion. That’s a GOOD thing. You should be thankful for it. But no, you are a powerful, entitled majority who is loudly proclaiming victimization even as you try and use secular law as your own personal theocratic bludgeon.

    • Rubie Brown

So called Christians judge everybody else while doing the same things themselves behind closed doors!!

  • subjectofgov

The most discriminated group in America today by far is the white American male. People talk of equal rights, but won’t address the treatment of men in “Family Courts”. They talk of equal rights, but refuse to acknowledge the treatment of white men in the ability to obtain help with higher education. Want a job in the gov? Well, they’ll have to pick a time when there aren’t any minorities applying at the same time. Ect, ect.

    • djson1

You’ve GOT to be kidding. If you’re a white American male and you feel like you’re being discriminated against with no opportunities in life compared to other minority groups, then it simply just means you’re a loser. You’ve lost in life.

      • 100% truth

        • subjectofgov

Rubbish. I keep plugging along, but that doesn’t change the injustices that I and others have dealt with. No doubt you would praise blacks for demanding change because their ancestors were slaves????… White discrimination is real and present. One cannot raise one group without stepping on another, at least not on Earth.

          • O the litany of injustices. I can just imagine. So hard for a white man in today’s world.

You would be funny if you weren’t so sad.

          • subjectofgov

Says the government supported professional student.

      • subjectofgov

Yet you praise the minorities when they protest or riot for special treatment? What’s wrong with you?

        • djson1

I praise them?? Are you sure?

          • subjectofgov

I never said I couldn’t move up in my career. Where did I even mention that? I listed a few of the injustices that white American males face and have had to endure some of them myself.

    • bcmugger

      100% truth.

    • Wynstone

It’s white men that make all the laws so who’s to blame for how the courts treat them? Boo hoo.

      • subjectofgov

What difference does the color of lawmakers have to do with anything? They make laws to accommodate their loudest constituents or their most accommodating donors. Are you saying that the country would be better off voting in people simply on their skin color? America did that twice now and look where it got us.

        • Wynstone

I’m not going to address your straw men or the words you’re putting in my mouth. White men still dominate the positions of lawmakers and judges. They are not choosing to discriminate against themselves so I’m saying you’re entire premise is flawed.

          • subjectofgov

Your statement is flawed. Politicians enjoy different rules to live by and not that of the common man and do not make laws against themselves, but do make laws raising one group over another. I’m not claiming anything that isn’t widely known by those not so arrogant to believe they are immune.

          • Wynstone

What you’re stating is an opinion you claim is informed, but you don’t prove it.

    • wow, sad. sounds like you’ve fond all the wrong people to blame for your failure in life.

must be tough to have white male privilege pass you by.

      • subjectofgov

Failure in life doesn’t have to be ones own failed decisions any more. Not if your a white American male. It simply means your a target and a beast of burden.

        • Keep blaming others.

Actually we only turn white American males into beasts of burden if they prove unable to learn where apostrophes go and the difference between your and you’re.

          • subjectofgov

Cute reply, but I would like to see you fumble through a day with me on the job. It would be my turn to point out inadequacies.

          • Is your job whining about discrimination against white men on the internet?

          • subjectofgov

It was a comment that was consistent with the article. Do you make the same responses to a minority that makes the same claims or would it be politically incorrect for you to do that? If so then you are part of the problem with discrimination in America. It’s your internal question to answer.

          • If a “minority” made an absurd counterfactual claim to justify their own self interest, I would mock them as well.

          • subjectofgov

I would totally agree with you if I was the only one that has suffered the injustices that I have, but it’s common practice in America and common knowledge. Get out once in a while or just wait a few. Pride really does go before the fall.

          • Wynstone

Common knowledge is otherwise known as bullshit.

          • I think he means “All my white meathead friends sit around and agree with me that all our tax monies are going to welfare queens.”

          • Wynstone

He was witness to a situation where the white male did not come first and now he wonders where “his America” went.

          • Lumpenproletariat

“… was the only one that has suffered the injustices that I have…”

Please, do tell us more about how hard it is to be a straight white male in America.

          • Rubie Brown

Shut up already!! You are absurd dude.

          • subjectofgov

You wouldn’t have to get upset if you pulled your head out of the politically correct a—–.

          • subjectofgov

You would not, because if you did you would become the target of those claiming racism or bias. You can only make your posts directed towards whites and stay safe. You know that I’m correct. There is no way you would endanger your position.

          • My position? You’re really kind of silly.

I will advise you to stop lying about what I will and have done in my life.

          • subjectofgov

Yes, your position. You claim your an open book on the web so that would make you open to attack by the minorities if you should call them out on their perceived plight. Much the same as the bakers that refused to bake a wedding cake for homosexuals. They lost their business and endured threatening messages from the “tolerant” members of society. Go ahead and admit I’m right.

          • Sorry. You lose again.

          • subjectofgov

Really? Would you like for me to copy a complaint made by a minority for you to respond to as you said you would? Can we see if I’m wrong?

          • Feel free.

Copy an absurd counterfactual claim made by a minority to justify their own self interest, and I will mock them, just as I said I would.

Then we will see that you’re wrong.

Furthermore, anonymous trolls like yourself have sent complaints to my company in the past when they disagreed with my political opinions. I accept the consequences of my public speech and feel no need to hide while whining about a world that hasn’t catered to my every whim.

          • I don’t claim anything. I tell the truth. My info is out there. You are hiding.

I am not afraid of being attacked for speaking the truth or sharing my opinion. If I offend someone, I learn from it.

Those bakers had strong opinions and they paid the price for it. It’s a free country. Sounds like you want special protections for unpopular opinions.

        • See that’s your problem right there. You preferred to believe fantasies over the truth. I haven’t been in school since 1986. I’m a director at a start up and hired 8 people last year. The truth lies beyond the simple answers that the powerful folk prefer you to believe.

          • subjectofgov

Actually, I believe I was correct.

          • Keep digging, anonymous trial. All my information is public.

          • subjectofgov

Information on all of us is public today. Welcome to the crowd.

          • fight the power!

Seriously, when you drop the white ressentiment you get a lot closer to the truth.

And to be 100% crystal clear, my Disqus profile has a photo of me and it links to my website. Go see if I am a professional student, or come up with another supposed insult from behind your mask of anonymity.

          • So, you’re standing by your fantasy that I’m a lifelong student, despite factual evidence to the contrary?

I may have found the real cause of your failure in life: Trouble understanding logic, facts, cause and effect.

    • djson1

This whole discussion reminds me of a quote from Family Guy (snicker):
Stewie tells the human version of Brian:
“And it should be easy for you…because…I mean, what luck you’re white. You have no idea how big that is here!”

    • Rubie Brown

You are a Liar, that’s it and that’s all!

      • subjectofgov

Not a liar at all, just not agreeing with the people who stick their heads in the sand and choose to ignore fact so they will look like they care about the minorities. Facts are facts and can’t be changed by intentional ignorance.

        • Rubie Brown

The ignorance is the dysfunctional brain you use to concoct the nonsense you write on this blog. The phenomenal call ” White Privilege” shows what a true idiot you really are. Your people use it in abundance to uplift even the most incompetent White individual. This phenomenal has been used over and over again since Columbus lied about discovering America, and then here comes you and people like you complaining about “Poor White Male Discrimination”. I thought that ish played out in the Regan and Bush administration. But here you are a throw back of Homer Simpson, Numbskull Train, a complete screw-up who want to blame discrimination on your freaking failures. Have you thought about this, you didn’t get whatever job or promotion because you are not qualified, not good enough, someone was better than you. If that someone was Black or another minority face it they were better. Black people have to be three times as qualified as you for any skilled position they get. You wouldn’t know a fact if it bit you on your backside. You are a Loser, if no one ever told you here it is the Truth 101. Let me just say this in parting, white men run this society, 98.5% of Cooperative America ran by men who look exactly like you so it they don’t hire you or promote you. Take a look in the mirror buddy. You’re to blame. IDIOT!!!

          • subjectofgov

You seem to contradict yourself with your flaming insults.
Using your argument one could say that 98.5% of corporate America is run by white men because they are better than you and have more skills, yet you blame it on color? Your argument works both ways. Affirmative action wasn’t needed for your world if people get their jobs by being more qualified as you stated above. Aside from your two sided arguments and insults, corporate leaders are a small percentage of the population. The greater percentage is standing in an unemployment line getting bumped back because their white. Reverse discrimination is discrimination and the people who scream the loudest about it are those with the most opportunities above and beyond those they claim are the problem. Care to tell us how many Trillions have been spent since 1965 to “rectify” they problem that is only worse now?

          • Rubie Brown

You evidently are jaded as well as Racist. Affirmative Action was put into place as a guaranteed inclusive tool for people who were qualified. What the government knew was this society of Racists such as yourself would never diversify the workforce. No matter how many opportunities someone like you receive, ” the typical, armchair Racist White Male”, you’re never satisfied. You believe you are owed success in this country for whatever little you do. People who own Companies are not smarter, because they are white they have more opportunity, because of White Privilege. How many times have Donald Trump went bankrupt. Yet Jay Z, who started out as a crack dealer, as did many other young Black Artists, with no high school diplomas and have built Multimillion Dollars Companies. So it is opportunity being not equally provided, not the Great White Hope of the world, who is now being discriminated against. I know not every White Male thinks like you and that should make the World feel better. Like I said before someone else was more qualified than you. Get over It, you sound quite crazy!!

          • subjectofgov

I may be a little crazy, but your delusional and worse, intentionally so. Stating facts or what I perceive to be facts is not a sign of a racist, however the term has been thrown around so much as an end all to arguments you can’t win, it’s become unimportant.
Affirmative action never or seldom placed the best candidate in the work force with no regard to skin color, in fact it’s worked just the opposite. Employers are fined for not having the “correct” percentage of minorities even if few apply. Your delusional. Your throwing insults does not strengthen your argument and does not change the facts.
Jay Z and other celebrities are not a good example of “business” sense by any means. I don’t know how you even associate Trump working and building business with a celebrity that has amazing amounts of money dumped in his lap and simply hires someone else to invest it for him. Look at the rappers who have not done that well such as Jay Z at keeping their money or even their lives due to drugs.

          • Rubie Brown

I think each person you exchange posts with understand what kind of personality they are dealing with. Classic Under Achiever, who blames everything he is not able to obtain on Affirmative Action and Minority Preference. Get a life! Everyone see through people like you. You are definitely a non issue.

          • subjectofgov

You seem to have been reading my mind as I had the same thoughts about you. Have a good day, of course you will if you just dream it as you seem to be able to dream up everything else.

          • Rubie Brown

Why don’t you try just keeping your mouth shut maybe you will get that promotion. According to a Microsoft CEO it suffices in moving him to promote women. I consider you and he in the same pool of Neanderthals. I don’t have to dream . I take action if I am not satisfied with things that affect me. I don’t whine about what someone else have. That’s something you seem to have perfected. So there is no need for you to dream because that practice have become your reality. You’re useless and definitely not worth my time, and as such I will not respond to another one of your idiotic posts. Have a nice useless life and you have done so far.

          • subjectofgov

“I take action if I am not satisfied with things that affect me”
Jane, you ignorant S—. I’m not whining, I’m stating a fact that is a problem with “progressive” thinking. The growing disicrimination of white men deserves the exact same treatment that blacks, females, gays and others have demanded and being the squeaky wheels have gotten the grease. If a black files suit that they were singled out at the water fountain on their job you would yell “go get em”! Only Neandrathals have this idea that if discrimination is applied to whites then it’s of no consequence. That is racist in every aspect. You sir/maam, are either incapable of critical thinking on your own or simply racist. Which is it?

  • Rubie Brown

Then ask Hispanics why they discriminate against Blacks, even though most come to this country illegally. They are taught discrimination in their country from the onset, even if they come from a country that have Afro Hispanics or Afro Latinos. Sorry but your whole white evangelical premise is also off the wall!

  • Vista-Cruiser

Evangelical Christians? They think that THEY face discrimination?

They’ve been the tail wagging the dog in this country for the past 36 years. They may not have invented discrimination, but they’ve raised it to a science.
